Roger Bourgeois, President of the Louisiana Automatic Fire Alarm Association is pleased to announce recognition of the Louisiana AFAA as “State Association of the Year” by the Automatic Fire Alarm Association. The State Association was chosen to receive the award on the basis of Association growth, educational programs, and participation in Life Safety Programs. The State Association is a member of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association headquartered in Jasper, Georgia, which was founded in 1953. Bourgeois is a past chairman of the Association, was founding President of the Louisiana AFAA in 1992, and currently serves as State President. Mr. Boyd Petty, Licensing Manager for the Office of State Fire Marshal, was also recognized as both the State and National “AFAA Person of the Year.” Mr. Petty will receive the award at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Conference in Chicago.
